How To Thursday-How to Fight Sciatica Nerve Pain during Pregnancy

I have to say we are so blessed to be able to access the internet and find a world of information at our fingertips. This pregnancy with baby no. 2 is really taking a wonderful toll on my body. I am having a few other problems this time around than I did with my first daughter. Do I regret them...NO. I am just taking it day by day.

I have been dealing with a lot of sciatica nerve pain in my body. Mostly on the left side. It makes it so difficult to work at my job and take care of everyday common duties I have around the house. It also interferes with my fun time with my family. I am tired of suffering, and I know there are some other moms out there that agree.

You can take medications to help, but if you are like me you don't want to with fear of harming the unborn child. So since I love yoga and stretching so much I searched the internet one night (one of those sleepless nights that put me in a lot of pain) for stretches or yoga moves that help with this problem. I found one, and I was relieved but felt silly that I didn't think of it myself because of how much I practice body stretching and yoga. I was like DUH!!!

So I will share in this article today with you the wonderful idea's I have found to help with this ongoing problem. Hopefully ladies we will find some relief.

Fit Bottomed Mamas has an article on their page that was so helpful. Complete with details of how to relieve the sciatica nerve problem we have. I find their article on pinterest here.

My most favorite move is the standing pigeon pose. That is how I was told to call it. Pigeon pose is usually done on the floor where you take one leg and cross it in front of you while taking the opposite leg sliding downward behind you. When you are pregnant it is difficult to get in this position. So I tried it by placing one leg on the side of the bed and then slowly while breathing lean forward. Just like the photos. The other two photos are very helpful as well. It is best to do hamstring stretches because a lot of stress and tension like to hide right there in the back of our legs. It causes a lot of lower back pain. It's worse when you are in your last trimester and your belly is huge. You need all the support in your muscles you can get.

Yoga and body stretching has it's benefits for everyday life as well. If you find yourself having problems and you are not pregnant try this out. As always consult your doctor before starting any exercise regimen to make sure you can do the exercises. Take practicing yoga slowly. Realize it takes time to get your body to do certain poses and postures. Your body will thank you.
