"If you wait for perfect conditions, you'll never get anything done!"

Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap. (Ecclesiastes 11:4 NIV)

YES! I am talking about procrastination. UGH, we all know we do it, but why? Here lately we all overload ourselves with many tasks and at the end of the day we realize we didn't get those things finished. Or during the day we see one task we need to do and act like is not that important at the time and convince ourselves we will have time to work on it later.

I don't know about you but my desk is getting piled up with a lot of things. So many deadlines are approaching and what do I do. Panic of course! Then I love the part where I constantly tell myself, "Geesh Mel!!!! if you only did this when you first thought of it or received information that it had to be done, you would not be in this mess!" Yea, trust me I do this all the time.

When you are a single parent like me it's hard not to. This isn't just for single parents those married couples and couples with children deal with this too. Hey even you single people without kids have these feelings. Everyone deals with this because something is always going to come up, something is always going to change right then, and something is always going to lead you astray from what has to be done. I am not only talking about the dirty dishes in the sink or the dirty laundry. I am talking about a lot of things.

Do you have time to spend with God? Be honest...Do we not all put GOD off until later? Do we not procrastinate reading our bibles, studying our Sunday lessons for Sunday School for next week? Talking with our families about God? Like I said, be honest...it is about time we should really think about this.

Tough questions aren't they?

Boy, I struggle with this all the time. I know a lot of us do too. We will say things like, "I will do that when I get up in the morning before anyone else is up. Or, I will start when I am about to lay down in bed to go to sleep." "I swear tomorrow we (as a family) will have a chat about some stuff in the Bible."

Do you know what I mean by "spend time with God"? A lot of people think it is take time or a section of time out and spend that whole time in prayer. WAIT A MINUTE... If you do this that is great! If not just listen/read on. I do this all the time. I will at times sit down and just pray, pray, and pray. I will have a whole conversation with HIM as if I went to a friend's house to visit for a while. Other times I will have a conversation with God as if he lives with me as a family member should. Get the idea. Sometimes though I do find myself treating that as if God is here but I ignore Him.
I believe we all do at times...
I am not going to lie to you, this is heavy. I woke up this morning thinking about this. I wanted to share my confession. I want to know and talk more with God, but I find that I procrastinate a lot about it. I will lay there in bed saying, "I am too tired." I will go to bed saying, "Good night God. Love you." There are times that I have a whole lot of things to talk about. Then I wonder if I am talking God's ears off. ( I honestly don't think that can happen but it seems that way.)

Don't ever think God doesn't have time for us. HE DOES. He tells us all the time that He is always there. So why not give HIM the time that HE gives us. After all hasn't HE given so much already. Just takes a few moments to spend with him, or treat GOD as someone who lives in your home all the time. Like a family member. After all He is our HEAVENLY FATHER.

Pray with me...

Dear Father, thank you for everything you give me. Thank you for being a FATHER who is always there and always has time for me. Thank you for forgiving me even though I procrastinate on the main important thing called prayer. I know I need to come to you all the time about things, even the little things that don't seem to matter. Help me arrange my schedule and activities to where I can include you. You are after all a very important member of my family. Thank you again for being my FATHER. AMEN.
