Alterations

I love to alter clothing. One of my projects is turning T-shirts into shrugs.

 

It is very easy and simple to do. Let's say you have a T-shirt that has been shrunken in the wash or doesn't quite fit like it used to, or my excuse is I just don't like it to be a shirt anymore.

Just turn the shirt inside out, with the front side up cut up the middle of the front of the shirt. Then cut around the collar and the top of the shirt. On your sewing machine you will sew a casing of about 1/2 inch by folding over the edges of the shirt that you cut and all the way up around the collar and down the front again. Use a color ribbon that matches the garment and thread it through the casing that you just now made. Pull like a drawstring at the desired size you like and wear with your favorite clothing pieces.

 It is very simple to make and you can do this to so many shirts. Give new life to those clothing items that have been a bore lately. ENJOY!
